Is this place haunted?

It's so sprawling. The architecture is amazing though, seriously impressive, like some kind of futuristic palace. I even swore I saw a shadowy figure flitting past a doorway in one of the quieter wings... Anyway, I only made it to one museum before needing a coffee. My question is, are there any lesser-known, spooky stories or urban legends associated with the place? I'd love to hear some, maybe it would explain that weird shadow...

That's funny you mention a shadowy figure! The Kulturforum isn't exactly known for its ghost stories like, say, some of the older parts of @Berlin. It's pretty new, relatively speaking. Most spooky tales in the city center tend to revolve around much older buildings, maybe some of the churches or even some of the U-Bahn stations.

However... I have heard whispers of odd things happening late at night in the less-used parts of the complex, particularly around the Philharmonie. Not exactly ghosts, more like... unexplained noises, strange temperature drops, that sort of thing. Probably just the building settling, or maybe some late-night maintenance work. But hey, if you saw a shadow, maybe there's more to it than meets the eye! Maybe you unlocked a secret side quest...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, pretty modern building, not exactly the gothic horror vibe. Unexplained noises though... that's interesting. It wasn't a full-on shadowy figure, more like a flicker of movement out of the corner of my eye, so probably nothing. But still... a temperature drop and weird noises? I might have to investigate further. Maybe next time I'm at the Philharmonie later on, I'll be more observant. Thanks for the info!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
