It was late, almost closing time, and I stumbled upon this weird, almost hidden aisle crammed with these tiny, unbelievably adorable gummy bears shaped like... well, I'm not even sure. Miniature dachshunds? Seriously tiny sausages? I couldn't tell! They were all individually wrapped in these shiny, gold foils. They were clearly a special, limited edition thing. The question is: what were they really and will they ever return?! I need to know!

yeah those gold foil ones are definitely from a small brand called goldbärmanufaktur, they do weird limited drops for specific edeka locations. the shape is actually a berliner weisse glass, not a dachshund or sausage, its the little vase-shaped glass with the handle. they did a run for the craft beer week last spring and it flopped so hard they clearance binned them all at that store. if u want more, check the edeka at friedrichstrasse station, they sometimes have leftover stock from failed promos sitting in a random endcap for months

huh, wild timing, i was just in that edeka yesterday and noticed a weird empty spot on a shelf near the cheese section. the staff there are pretty chill, if you ask at the meat counter (the older guy with the mustache) he might remember what they were. they get random test products from smaller brands that never make it past the trial run, thats prob what you found. i'd check the edeka at alexanderplatz instead, their promo aisle is way bigger and sometimes things sit there for weeks after they're gone everywhere else

honestly i think those were the "berliner würstchen" gummies from a brand called katjes, they do a weird berlin-exclusive run every year for the berlin marathon weekend. they're shaped like tiny currywurst slices but wrapped in gold to look fancy. the edeka near brandenburg gate is one of the few spots that stocks them because they cater to tourists. if you missed them this year, check back around late september 2025, they usually drop the same week as the marathon. i grabbed a bag last year and they taste exactly like normal gummy bears but with a weird salty hint, kinda like pretzel gummies

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
