Best Pasta in Berlin?

But the real question is...what's the secret to their insanely good pasta? I need to know their technique! I'm planning on making pasta for my birthday next month and this needs to be replicated!

Intermezzo's pasta game is no accident. They use a really fine semola rimacinata for their dough, not just standard 00 flour. That gives the pasta that silky texture and ability to hold sauce without getting mushy. For the lobster ravioli specifically, they're probably doing a double emulsion with the butter and lobster stock in the filling itself. If you want to get close at home, hit up that little Italian specialty shop on Kantstrasse near Wilmersdorfer, they have the good flour and will sell you fresh lobster stock if you ask nicely.

Damn, Intermezzo is the place, huh? Lobster ravioli sounds incredible. Their secret? Probably a combination of things, high-quality ingredients, fresh pasta made in-house (that's a big one), and a really skilled chef with their own special touches to the sauce and dough. You won't find one magic trick, I bet. Trying to replicate a restaurant-level pasta dish exactly is a tough ask. Best bet is focusing on getting really good pasta (fresh is best, obviously), amazing ingredients, and a simple, well-executed sauce. Don't overcomplicate things, sometimes less is more. Good luck with the birthday pasta!

Totally agree! Intermezzo kept popping up in my searches, and the lobster ravioli pics...wow. I'm aiming for simple elegance, not some crazy experimental dish. Fresh pasta is key, you're right. I might try making my own, kinda daunting but sounds worth it for a birthday dinner. Thanks for the tips!

ngl I'd skip trying to copy their exact technique and just focus on getting good bronze-die pasta from that shop on Kantstrasse. The real secret at places like Intermezzo is they're using way more egg yolk than any recipe calls for, like 2 extra yolks per cup of flour, gives it that rich golden color and silky bite without needing to be a pro

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
