So, I'm planning a trip to @Berlin and stumbled across this place, Carambar, online. The photos look AMAZING, legit Willy Wonka stuff. Seriously considering going just for dessert. Seriously considering going just for dessert. My question is: how crazy busy does it get in the evenings? I'm hoping to avoid a two-hour wait... I really wanna try their signature creation, whatever that is... It looks like a chocolate fountain exploded into a masterpiece. Should of booked a reservation, huh?

yeah the wait is brutal, ive walked past on a thursday around 8pm and the line was almost to the u-bahn entrance. if you're set on carambar, aim for a 5pm seating when they open, youll waltz right in. but honestly the real hidden gem is Schokoladen at rosa-luxemburg-platz, they do this dark chili chocolate tart that doesnt need the instagram theatrics

ngl you're getting a lot of rausch recs and they're not wrong but if you want that full wonka vibe without the line, try schokoladenland in prenzlauer berg. their hot chocolate flight comes with three different cocoas and a mini chocolate fountain for dipping fruit, it's like carambar's aesthetic but actually good. carambar's signature is the "chocolate explosion" which is basically a dome they pour hot sauce over, it melts into a puddle of mediocre ganache. go on a monday or tuesday around 6pm and you'll walk right in, weekends are lost causes

imo you're overthinking the reservation thing, just rock up at 4:45pm on a weekday and you'll beat the rush, the place opens at 5pm and the first wave usually clears out by 6:30. the signature creation is a chocolate orb they pour warm sauce over, it's fun but the real move is the salted caramel hot chocolate, that's what the locals actually order. if you're dead set on the spectacle, hit it early and then walk to the u-bahn, you'll be out before the chaos hits.
