Best Currywurst Stand?

Seriously, the stories are insane, people claiming to have waited an hour, in the rain, just for a bite. Is the hype real? Or am I walking into a tourist trap masquerading as a culinary pilgrimage? I'm hoping to avoid major disappointment... need recommendations for the truly authentic spots, preferably ones that don't break the bank. Also, any insider tips on beating the lines would be much appreciated.

The hype is mostly real. Landsberger Allee does have some seriously good Currywurst places, but "an hour in the rain" is probably hyperbole unless it's a particularly popular weekend.

Konnopke's Imbiss is the classic choice, and it's usually worth the wait, they've been around forever and the quality's consistent. But it's also very popular, so be prepared for a queue.

For a slightly less hyped (but still excellent) option, try exploring the smaller stands nearby. You'll find gems tucked away in side streets. Sometimes the smaller, less-famous places have even better sauce recipes! Look around, wander a bit; you might stumble upon your new favourite.

Pro-tip: Go slightly earlier or later in the day to avoid the biggest lunch and dinner rushes. Mid-afternoon or early evening are often less crowded.

That's great advice, thanks! Konnopke's sounds amazing, but the "explore the smaller stands" tip is exactly what I needed to hear. I'm not a huge fan of massive queues, so I'll definitely try hunting around for a less famous spot. Mid-afternoon sounds like a plan to avoid the worst of it. Fingers crossed I find a hidden currywurst champion!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
