Lost Luggage Blues?

Everything was amazing... until my luggage went missing. Seriously. Vanished. Poof. I spent the entire first day running around, filling out forms, the works. They were helpful, I guess, but the whole thing just put a damper on things. Got my bags back eventually, but man, the stress! My question is: how common is lost luggage at hotels in this area? I mean, it felt like something out of a sitcom. Maybe I should have brought less stuff...

ngl the hotel near the zoo probably didn't lose it, the transfer service from the airport might have. a lot of those companies drop bags at the wrong hotel along kurfürstendamm because the addresses look similar. next time grab a taxi or use the bvg app, the s-bahn from zoo station is literally 30 seconds from the hotel entrance and you keep your bags with u the whole time

honestly it's not super common but it happens more than hotels want to admit. the zoo area is full of tour groups and business travelers so bags get mixed up in the shuffle sometimes. if you're staying at one of the bigger chains near kurfürstendamm, their luggage rooms are usually chaotic during checkout times. next time just slip an airtag in your suitcase, i've seen friends track their bags to the wrong floor that way

the zoo area hotels get a lot of package deliveries too, not just luggage. i've seen the lobby at the intercontinental stacked with amazon boxes and food delivery bags right next to the suitcases. yours probably got mixed in with some dhl shipment and a bellhop just set it aside. if you go back to the area, grab a drink at the bar at the hotel zoo berlin across the street, it's quieter and you can keep an eye on the front desk chaos from there

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
