Best döner in Berlin?

Where is the best place to get a döner in Berlin? Where is the best place to get a döner in Berlin?

honestly the "best" one depends on what you want. if its the classic wet garlicky sos kind i'd go to Imren on Karl-Marx-Str in Neukölln, the queue at 2am tells u everything. for something a bit cleaner and more meat-forward, Hasir in Kreuzberg is solid but pricier. avoid the tourist spots around Alex, teh meat quality is usually trash.

The real variable here is the bread, not the meat. Most places steam their Fladenbrot soft so it turns to mush by the last bite, which is why I keep going back to Döner Turm near Gesundbrunnen, they press it flat on the grill so it stays crisp and holds the sauce. Also worth knowing: the cheap 3,50 euro spots have mostly vanished since 2023, expect closer to 5 to 7 now, and the ones still charging 3 are cutting the meat portion, not the quality. If you're in Prenzlauer Berg, Gemüse Kebap at Schönhauser Allee is a different beast entirely, more of a salad sandwich, but good in its own way.

If you're willing to go a bit further out, Bereket on Kottbusser Damm does a proper döner with actual lamb and the bread gets toasted on the grill rather than steamed soft. It's been there forever and the prices are still reasonable, around 6 euros for a big one. Mustafa's on Mehringdamm gets all the hype but I find the queue not worth it, the vegetables are fine but the meat is nothing special. For a late-night option, the stands around Warschauer Str hold up better than most people admit.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
