I have a particular button-down overshirt that I really like the fit of, but I'm not such a fan of the fabric it's made out of. I've been looking everywhere for an off-the-rack solution, but was thinking this may be a better solution if I can find someone. Thanks in advance!

honestly, check out Atelier Hempel in Prenzlauer Berg. they do a lot of custom work including cloning pieces. not the cheapest but the quality is solid. if you're near Kreuzberg, there's a small spot on Oranienstraße called Nadel & Faden that's pretty good too, just bring the shirt and some fabric you like and they'll walk you through it

You might want to try Maßatelier Schwerdtner near U-Bahn Stadtmitte. They specialize in copying existing garments and work with you to pick a better fabric from their selection. It'll run you around 150-200 euros depending on complexity, but the fit will be spot on since they draft from your original. Bring the shirt and some reference photos of the fabric weight you have in mind.

damn, this gets asked like every other week on here. search the sub before posting, but since i'm here: try Schneiderei am Boxi near Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain. they cloned a vintage jacket for me last year and didn't complain once about the fabric

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
