What the hell happened to Sisyphos!?

Post-covid, clubbing every single weekend is not on the menu. So I went back to Sisy after a looong time and oh boy, the crowd seems to have changed A LOT.

Especially, groups of people forming circles with their gang and dancing ONLY in their closed circle ⭕️, literally. When I was chilling with a top view of Hammahalle dance floor, I observed- there were 3 groups (circles) of 8 or more people at the same fucking time! German teenagers, Spanish & Italian ppl mostly.

Dancing with each other is what we all hit the dance floor for, but closing your options to a fixed number of friends? What happened to being open and inclusive? What about that empty useless space you're creating in the middle? Am I allowed to walk through that space? Do you guys also need a table there, to put your stuff on and dance around it? Bro, half of you are not even facing the DJ booth! Dancing with such a "zoned out" or "stay in zone" crowd is incredibly annoying (for me atleast) and I immediately wanted to move to Dampfer.

So, is this normal now? Blame corona or...?

nah you're not wrong. the circle thing is real and it's been getting worse. sisy has always had a bit of that vibe on big weekends but now it's like people treat the dancefloor as their personal living room. i've seen groups literally link arms to block people from cutting through their circle, which is just weird behavior for a club.

my theory is sisy got too big on tiktok and instagram reels. those viral videos of the hammahalle during golden hour brought in a whole new crowd that treats it like a backdrop for their group photos rather than a place to actually dance. the old regulars who made the vibe special have moved on to smaller parties or just stay home now.

if you still want that sisy energy without the tourist circus, try going on a random thursday or monday when they're open. way less of the weekend crowd and more of the actual berlin heads who are there for the music. or honestly just skip the main floor entirely and camp out in the dachterrasse area, that's where the better vibe has shifted to imo.

You're not wrong about the circle thing. I've noticed it more at Sisyphos than anywhere else in Berlin, especially on the Hammahalle floor. It's partly because that space is just a big open box with no real flow, so people claim their territory.

The crowd has definitely shifted over the last few years. Sisy used to be more of a mixed bag of locals and regulars, but now it pulls in a lot of big groups from southern Europe who treat it like a holiday destination rather than a club. The DJs have leaned harder into the peak-time tech house sound too, which attracts that kind of energy.

If you want to dodge that vibe entirely, head to the Dampfer or the outdoor areas earlier in the night. Or try Else or Renate on a Sunday afternoon, where the crowd is still more about dancing with strangers than guarding a patch of floor.

kinda wild to me that this is news to anyone who's been going out regularly. sisy has been heading this direction since like 2019, covid just accelerated it. the circle thing is annoying af but honestly that whole floor has always been a bit of a mess, just now it's

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
