Best Fry Up Breakfast in Berlin? ...with Black Pudding!

Over in Berlin next week and searching for the best fry up... English, Irish, Scottish... even European based as long as it's got black pudding/blood sausage as an option.

honestly skip the tourist spots and head to The Barn in Mitte for breakfast, not the coffee shop but the little cafe next door. they do a proper fry with blutwurst that's more like a thick slice of black pudding, comes with fried potatoes and a runny egg. costs about 12 euro and they don't mess with the beans thing, just bread and butter on the side

if you want the real deal though, go to Schwarzwaldstuben on Tucholskystrasse. it's a schwäbische place but they serve a mean breakfast with blutwurst and leberwurst, plus they have speck which is basically irish bacon. the owner's a brit who moved here years ago so she gets it right. just be warned it gets packed by 10 on weekends

The Blutwurst at Markthalle Neun in Friedrichshain is worth a look on a Thursday when they do the street food thing. There's a stall called Kumpel & Keule that does a proper butcher's breakfast with blood sausage, speck, and scrambled eggs for around 14 euro. It's not pretending to be an English fry up but the quality is better than most places trying to replicate one.

If you're set on the full plate, head to The Castle Pub in Neukölln on Hermannstrasse. It's an actual Irish pub that does a full Irish breakfast until 2pm, black pudding included from a specialty butcher in Spandau. The staff are usually grumpy but the pudding is spot on and they don't skimp on the rashers. About 15 euro with a drink.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
