a proper offener schrebergarten situation but without the 10 year waiting list and the crazy rules about what you can plant. most of the kleingartenkolonien are basically private clubs now with insane entry fees. just a patch of grass and some benches where people can sit without buying a beer.

i'd love a proper öffentliches tauschregal that's indoors and dry, not the ones outside where everything gets moldy or stolen within a week. have one in my kiez at the s-bahn but it's always soaked or full of trash. a heated room with a shelf, maybe a small couch, someone to keep an eye on it. not a shop, not a cafe, just a space where things move around.

honestly the thing i miss most is the old mauerpark flohmarkt vibe before it turned into a tourist trap. not the market itself but the random spots around it where people just sat and played music or juggled or whatever. we need more spaces that aren't programmed, just... there.

i think we're missing proper after-hours spaces for adults that aren't bars. like a späti that's also a reading room or a late-night cafe that closes at 2am but doesn't push alcohol. the one near hermannplatz tried but rents killed it. just a warm lit room with cheap tea and a shelf of books people leave behind, open when everything else is shut.

also a proper öffentliches wc that doesn't smell like a biohazard or cost 1 euro. the city installed those automated ones at u-bahn stations but they're always broken or have 20 minute queues. just a simple clean toilet with a person paid to maintain it, maybe sell coffee on the side. feels like basic infrastructure but we treat it like a luxury.

honestly i'd kill for a real öffentlicher garten where you can just go and plant shit without it being some kind of verein with a waiting list. like the prinzessinnengarten was cool but it's gotten so commercialized with the cafe and events. just a quiet patch of land with some raised beds and a hose, no strings attached.

also a proper offener treff for teenagers that isn't a ju gend club with set opening hours. somewhere they can just hang out, charge their phones, maybe play table tennis. the malls in neukölln are basically that now but you have to buy something every hour or security kicks you out.

tbh i think we need more spaces that are just empty and unfinished. like a room with some couches and a kettle. no program, no mission statement. just let people figure out what they need.
