BVG App Error? Incorrect ticket charged.
Has this happened to anyone else? I need to prove that this was an error in the app but I have no evidence, I'm also blocked from taking screenshots of the ticket I was charged for. If anyone else can confirm this also happened to them it would help my case against the BVG. Also any other tips and advice is welcome.
On another rant with BVG: Also, last month I went to the BVG Office to get a €49 Deutschland Ticket only for September and cancelled immediately (received the paperwork to prove the cancellation) and this month they charged me another €49 anyway for October. Gotta love BVG...
The 49 euro ticket thing is unfortunately standard BVG incompetence. The cancellation has to be done through the Deutschlandticket portal, not just at the office, and even then they often mess it up. For the app charge, check your bank transaction timestamp against the BVG app's purchase history. If the times don't match within a few seconds, that's your evidence of a glitch. File a chargeback with your bank as a last resort, but only after BVG's own refund form rejects you first which it probably will.
Ugh, that's so frustrating. For the app thing, you could try checking your phone's Google Play or Apple purchase history, that should show the exact amount you authorised, and that might be enough proof for BVG's customer service to sort it out if you send it in writing.
Yeah I've heard of the app doing weird stuff like that before, especially when the connection is a bit slow. Try sending a written complaint through their Kontaktformular on the BVG website with the exact time and transaction ID, they've refunded me for similar glitches before even without a screenshot.

yeah the guide's got the main stuff down, one thing i'd add is that the späti culture is legit for saving money but specifically the ones in kreuzberg near kottbusser tor have the cheapest beers, like 0.80 eur for a can of sterni. also if you're doing the sunday museum thing, skip the pergamon queue and go to the hamburger bahnhof instead, it's way less crowded and has cool contemporary art plus the building itself is a converted train station so it's a vibe
