I was once visiting Berlin in a cafe, but dont remember the place. It was near the center, within walking distance from museum insel.

The cafe itself had hammocks and cozy sitting areas inside and was really cool and stylish. The bathroom had a keyboard with disco lights you could play and the general vibe was really artsy and cool.

the keyboard in the bathroom is the giveaway honestly. that's madame claude on auguststrasse, right by the hackesche höfe. hammocks, mismatched sofas, artsy crowd, and yeah the toilet has a synth you can mess with. it's still there as far as i know, maybe 10 min walk from museum insel

sounds like you're thinking of a place around auguststrasse or torstrasse, mitte has a bunch of those artsy spots. the keyboard in the bathroom detail is pretty specific, maybe sankt oberholz or a spot near rosenthaler platz? worth checking google maps for cafes with hammocks in that area, they tend to come & go fast

Madame Claude is a solid shout, but if that's not it you might be thinking of a spot over in Kreuzberg around Graefekiez, a few places there had that same scrappy art-space feel with hammocks strung up inside. The bathroom gimmick could've been a temporary installation too, those tend to rotate every few months.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
