Hey guys,

First of all, I want you to know that I love this city so far. I moved here a bit over a month ago and I love the vibe of the city. I typically go to a bar to watch some soccer games. But so far, almost all bars I've been to have so many people smoking inside. I'm quite sensitive when it comes to the smell of cigarettes, so every time I have to wash my clothes and take a shower afterwards.

Does anyone know some good soccer bars around Charlottenburg that have smoke-free rooms? I would really appreciate not to smell like an ashtray every time I leave the bar.

Thanks already in advance.

The smoking situation really is one of those Berlin things that doesn't change, but you've got options in Charlottenburg if you look past the standard kneipen. Head to the sports bar on Wilmersdorfer Straße called Champions, it's a chain but it's fully smoke-free and they always have the games on, just don't expect much charm. For something with more character, try the back room at Dicke Wirtin on Savignyplatz, the non-smoking area is pretty well separated and they show Bundesliga matches. Most places that are completely smoke-free tend to be the newer or more touristy spots, so you might have to trade a bit of atmosphere for clean clothes.

ngl the smoking thing is just part of the deal at most traditional kneipen here, but if you're near charlottenburg try the bar on windscheidstraße called Café Einstein, they have a separate non-smoking section that's actually pretty decent and they show soccer on a smaller tv. also if you're up for a short walk to the u-bahn, the place on knesebeckstraße called Schleusenkrug is mostly outdoors or has a covered smoking area but the inside is smoke-free and they'll put games on if you ask, just depends on the day

I think there's a place on Leibnizstraße called Kantine Kohlmann that shows games and has a non-smoking section upstairs. It's not huge but it's separate enough that you don't get the smell all over you.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
