So you're looking at telepresence work, that's 3k a month right? The Jobcenter will likely want to see that contract or a signed offer before they do anything, even if it's starting soon. For immediate shelter without that, try the Sozialamt for a Notunterkunft, it's not great but it's a bed. There's one near Hauptbahnhof on Lehrter Straße, they take people in crisis without an Anmeldung sometimes

If you're not registered in Berlin yet, you need to get an Anmeldung first even if it's at a friend's couch - without that the Jobcenter will send you away. Once you have it, go to the Jobcenter with your telepresence contract or offer letter and ask for Vorschuss, which is an advance on your upcoming income. The rate for single adults is around 502€ per month, and they can also cover your deposit for a room if you find one through WG-gesucht or a cheap pension near Wedding.

honestly just go to the nearest Sozialamt or Jobcenter, they handle this kind of emergency housing stuff. if you dont have any income right now you might qualify for a Platz in a Notunterkunft or they'll pay for a cheap pension room near Ostbahnhof or something. bring your ID and your rental contract if you had one, and be upfront about the 3k coming in soon - they'll prob want to see a signed contract or offer letter to count that

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
