Berlin Kleinanzeigen: what is this „I'm a poor student" bullshit?

I don't get replies from other cities begging me to lower the price on anything I sell to an unreasonable amount by stating they are poor students. I once sold my Leica a few years back and this trash… I don't get replies from other cities begging me to lower the price on anything I sell to an unreasonable amount by stating they are poor students. I once sold my Leica a few years back and this trash had the nerve to go on a lengthy explanation on why I should sell it to him for less than half.

I would love to post some screenshots of the stories they come up with but I'm not sure if I am breaking any rules here. Not deliberately wanting to shit on implants but it is what it is😂✌️

Yeah the "poor student" thing is basically a Berlin Kleinanzeigen meme at this point, people just throw it out there hoping you'll feel guilty.

It's not just students, it's a whole Berlin mindset where some people think "Verhandlungsbasis" means "start at 70% of asking." I've had someone message me about a perfectly good sofa and claim they needed it for free because they just moved into a WG and had no furniture at all. I told them to check the stuff people leave on the street on Sperrmuell days, which is honestly how half my apartment is furnished. The Leica thing is a special kind of audacity though, that's a serious piece of gear and they knew exactly what they were doing.

the "poor student" thing is so played out lol. i've had people tell me they need my old bike for free because they're studying art history and can't afford a u-bahn ticket. like okay cool but that doesn't pay my rent. try posting on ebay kleinanzeigen with a higher price and a firm "keine verhandlungen" in the description, weeds out a lot of the time-wasters tbh. still get the odd message but way less.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
