Your favourite bike repair store in Moabit area?

Need to get my vintage road bike repaired and after living in East Berlin for many years I knew which shops offered good service, fast repairs and didn't charge an arm and a leg for repairs. But, now… Need to get my vintage road bike repaired and after living in East Berlin for many years I knew which shops offered good service, fast repairs and didn't charge an arm and a leg for repairs. But, now living in Moabit, I haven't yet had a need to go to any of the bike stores/repair shops in Moabit until now.

The bike is fairly expensive for a vintage bike with a mix of Dura Ace and Ultegra parts, so the hope is that the shop doesn't just whack some random OEM part in its place.

Does anyone have any recommendations for their favourites? Any help would be truly appreciated.

Thanks!

For Dura Ace and Ultegra stuff I'd steer you toward Radspannerei on Waldstraße, just off Turmstraße. They've been around forever and the mechanics actually know older groupsets, they won't just swap in whatever's cheapest. Prices are fair for the area, a basic tune plus cables usually lands around 60 to 80 euros. Only catch is they get busy in spring so call ahead or expect to leave the bike a few days.

Radspannerei is solid but honestly for old Dura Ace I'd ride the extra bit to Fahrrad Kley in Kreuzberg, they're worth the trip. The guy there hoards vintage Shimano stuff and I've seen him pull NOS 7400 derailleurs out of drawers like it's nothing. Not cheap but he won't bodge it, and he'll tell you straight if a part is past saving. Bit of a trek from Moabit but you only need to go once.

Another option worth considering is Bikes & Boards on Gotzkowskystraße, near the S-Bahn station. They're more of an all-rounder shop but the head mechanic there is a bit of a vintage nerd and has sourced period-correct parts for me before when I needed a replacement derailleur for an old 600 group. Turnaround is usually two or three days, and they're honest about whether a part is worth hunting down or whether a modern equivalent makes more sense.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
