Hi, this might be a bit weird one, but my girlfriend collects these round, refillable clipper lighters.

I'm in Berlin for the next days and was hoping I can find a store/späti who might have some unique ones?

Most of the ones I've seen she already owes (at least afaik), would be cool if I can bring her some that are a bit more rare

I'm currently near Mehringdamm

Thanks a lot!

You should hit up Soda on Oranienstraße, not far from you. They've got a little counter near the register with a rotating selection of Clippers, sometimes the boxy limited edition ones or collabs with local artists. I've spotted some with Berlin skyline prints there that I haven't seen at standard Spätis. If that fails, the bazaar shop on Görlitzer Straße near the U-Bahn entrance sometimes has oddball ones from Turkey or Eastern Europe, worth a peek.

honestly the best spot for odd clippers is this little turkish shop on Hasenheide near the Südstern U-Bahn exit, it's called something like Hasenheide Market. they have a whole drawer of them by the register, not just the usual ones but some real random stuff from Istanbul and random EU countries. I grabbed a weird one with a cat on it there a few months ago, never seen it anywhere else.

also if you're up for a short walk, the späti right at the corner of Jahnstraße and Bergmannstraße sometimes has limited runs from the Netherlands, the owner's cousin brings them over. they had a few with dutch flag designs last time i was there, not really my thing but def more unique than the standard silver ones

Check out the little tobacco shop on Bergmannstraße near the intersection with Zossener Straße, it's called Tabakwaren something. They usually have a box of random Clippers behind the counter that aren't the standard ones you see everywhere. Also try the Späti on the corner of Fidicinstraße and Willibald-Alexis-Straße, the guy who runs it brings back weird ones from his trips to Poland.

Best tattoo artist in town?

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
