We want to try to get into Berghain on Friday but want to have some back up plans in case we don't get in.

What are some other good clubs to dance? Also what's the dress code for those clubs? We both would prefer to just dress casually instead of getting all dolled up.

Griessmuehle in Neukolln is worth a look if you want something with a similar gritty feel. The door is pretty relaxed, just wear dark clothes and don't act like you're on a pub crawl. They have a nice smoking area outside with benches where you can actually hear yourself talk, which is rare for Berlin clubs. If you end up there, grab a currywurst from the stand outside the S-Bahn station on your way, it's one of the better ones.

If you're already in the area and Berghain doesn't work out, About Blank in Friedrichshain is a solid backup. It's a bit more relaxed with the door policy but still has that raw, warehouse vibe and good electronic music. Dress code is basically just casual dark clothes, no need to overthink it. You could also try ://about blank on a Friday, they often have two floors open and the crowd is usually pretty friendly.

honestly if you're already near berghain and get rejected just walk over to ritter butzke, it's like 5min away on ritterstraße. they have three floors with different music so you can bounce around til you find your vibe. dress code is super casual, i've gone in jeans and a hoodie plenty of times.

if you want something a bit more underground, try mensch meier on warschauer. it's small and grungy but the door is almost always chill and they play solid techno til morning. no one's gonna care what you're wearing there either

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
