Hi everyone,

I just finished clearing out my closet and have a ton of women's clothes to sell. I tried selling at a flea market once before, but it didn't go well and I didn't sell much. I'm curious to hear about your experiences! Which flea market in Berlin is the best for actually getting rid of a lot of stuff? I'd really appreciate any recommendations or advice. Thanks in advance!

if u want to actually move volume try the troedelmarkt at ostbahnhof on saturdays, its way less cute than the park ones & thats the point, mostly resellers & people furnishing flats who grab a whole bag for 20. downside is you compete with pros selling vintage so keep it cheap. another option is boxhagener platz on sundays but it got pricey for a stand, the crowd is younger & more into individual pieces than bulk. also check the berlin flohmarkt facebook groups, some sellers just do a kleiderkorb setup near a spati and skip the stand fee entirely

The last reply touched on it but to be clear, at the big sunday markets you basically can't just rock up. Standgenehmigung at Mauerpark and Arkonaplatz is waitlisted for months. What actually works for a one-off closet clearout is a Trödelmarkt with day spots, like the one at Park Inn Alexanderplatz on weekends, or just asking around the smaller Kiez markets if they have freie Plätze that morning. Call ahead, some let you grab a leftover spot for like 15-20 euro if you show up early enough.

mauerpark is the obvious one but it's honestly not great for clothes anymore, too many tourists just browsing. i'd go raw tempelhof on a sunday instead, way more locals actually buying. get there by 7 to grab a good spot along the main path, and price everything low, like 5-10 euro a piece, people there want bargains not haggling.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
