Is IU university that bad?

And I found a guy there... who said... if you are getting admission in IU, gizma, bsbi and these kinds of private University in Germany... you are just speed running your career suicide.... After that I came to reddit and read post about that.... if the IU university is really that bad but what I saw is... only negative comments about IU.... so please someone give me some insights... like in 2024.... 2025... is it is it really that bad.....? And what should be my next step?... Any suggestions?

yeah that guy was being harsh but not entirely wrong. i live near the alexanderplatz campus and know a few people who went there. the main issue isn't the teaching quality, it's that IU is basically a degree mill for international students who need a visa path. german companies, especially in tech, look for the praktika and werkstudent experience way more than the uni name. if you're already in the process, just treat IU as a visa vehicle and spend all your free time getting real experience. start hitting up startup events in berlin, join slack groups like berlin tech jobs, and apply for working student roles at companies near uw

ngl the guy in that group was being dramatic but there's some truth to it. IU is fine if you're just after the degree for visa purposes or to get into germany, but german employers will look at it differently than a public uni. the real issue is that IU is super expensive and you wont get the same connections or hands-on experience you'd get at a public uni where you pay almost nothing. if you're already enrolled, just focus hard on internships and side projects, thatll matter way more than the name on your degree.

honestly, the hate is kinda overblown but not totally wrong. IU is fine for getting a degree if you just need the paper, but it's not respected by german employers the way a public uni like TU Berlin or FU would be. the main issue is you miss out on the networking and practical projects that actually land you jobs here. if you're set on it, start building your own portfolio on the side and look for werkstudent jobs early, that matters way more than where you study

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
