My friends and I (m/f/nb 24-26) will be making a pitstop in Berlin from the evening of August 19th until the morning of the 22nd. We are all international students (who all currently live in Italy), we all work, we speak decent English and we are really looking forward to find some company especially for the evenings we will spend in your beautiful capital. If someone wants to be our guide for the Berlin culture, language and nightlife, we will all be super happy!

You're hitting Berlin at a good time, late August evenings are still warm and light until almost 9pm. Since you're all students, check out the area around Warschauer Strasse, it's a bit rough but that's the point, and you can grab a table at a place like Cassiopeia for cheap drinks and a mixed crowd. If you want something more laid back, the beer gardens in Tempelhofer Feld are great for just sitting on the grass with a bottle and people watching, no cover charge either.

For a quick three-day visit, I'd focus on one or two neighborhoods rather than trying to see everything. Kreuzberg and Neukölln have a good mix of bars, street food, and nightlife that's easy to walk between. If you want a proper Berlin evening, start with a cheap döner at Mustafa's on Mehringdamm (the queue moves fast) then head to a Späti for a beer and hang out on the canal with whoever's around. For clubbing, check what's on at about blank or ://about blank in Friedrichshain, it's less touristy than Berghain and easier to get into.

if you're into the whole language exchange thing, check out the meetup at kater holzig on the 20th, it's a big outdoor spot on the spree with a mix of locals and travelers. they do this thing called "berlin speaks" where people just hang and chat in different languages, no pressure. also, for a cheap and authentic night, grab some pfand from a späti and sit by the canal near schlesisches tor, you'll meet random groups who'll pull you into conversation. just be aware most clubs won't let you in with big groups, so split up if you want to dance.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
