Anyone else feeling the squeeze in Berlin Tech ?

I'm not sure if this is happening only in the Berlin tech scene, or across Germany/Europe, or perhaps globally in the tech industry.

For the past year, I've noticed more and more companies and startups are demanding increased workloads from employees while maintaining the same or lower pay.

Judging by the company I'm in (1000 - 5000 employees):

Hiring has practically stopped.

New hires for the same roles are receiving 10-20% less pay compared to hires in 2022-2023.

Employees are spread thin, with teams of 2-3 people handling hundreds of completely different tasks, leaving no room to become an expert in their field and forcing them to be responsible for multiple areas.

Employees are constantly expected to work after hours on "important topics" with no extra pay, and nearly every issue is deemed "important."

Employees are expected to get back online during vacations or parental leave when facing blockers on "important" topics.

There is a push to return to the office five days a week for the sake of "company culture," despite any opposing arguments.

Everyone is constantly burned out and busy, making it difficult to get help from colleagues.

There are many top-down decisions from the C-level executives, where employees are expected to do as they're told, rather than what might be best for the company.

From some of my friends:

An American startup closed its remote branch in Germany, forcing employees to either work as freelancers or leave.

Another company (1000 - 5000 employees) has stopped hiring and promotions, leaving employees to "enjoy" the inflation.

This isn't like the layoffs of 2020 or 2022; somehow, it feels even worse. I'd prefer to be laid off and enjoy a 3-month paid break if it weren't for the 10-20% pay cuts for the same role, since I still have bills to pay.

P.S. One of the reasons I moved to Berlin, instead of elsewhere, was for the work-life balance and strong worker rights. But somehow, that doesn't seem to apply in the tech industry. :\

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
