Hello there,

I am looking for a furnished apartment for a short term stay in Berlin. No registration required.

There are so many offers on the internet, but many of them look rather sketchy, unprofessional and/or overpriced.

Is there a company or website you can recommend?

I don't have much time, so I want something I can book well in advance. I'm willing to pay a bit more, but then I expect something that doesn't appear to be the illegal sublet of a sublet run by the Moldovan mafia.

Thank you very much!

also look at Berlin-based agencies like GoHaus or Crocodilian, they handle serviced flats in Mitte and Charlottenburg for exactly this 1-month thing. Crocodilian is pricier (think 1800+ for a decent 1BR) but you deal with an actual office in Kreuzberg, not some random on Airbnb. fwiw the main scam risk isnt teh listing itself but the deposit, so never wire money via Western Union or crypto, only SEPA to a real German company account. if theyre registered as GmbH you can look them up on the Handelsregister in 2 min.

One thing worth knowing before you book anything: a one month stay without Anmeldung usually means the host is treating it as a holiday let, and Berlin's Zweckentfremdungsverbot makes a lot of those technically illegal. That does not automatically mean you get scammed, but it does mean you have almost no legal footing if something goes wrong, so the deposit question matters even more than usual.

For actually vetted places, I'd look at Stayery and Limehome, both run serviced apartments in Berlin with proper corporate backing and you book directly on their sites. They sit around 90 to 140 a night depending on the month, which sounds steep until you compare it to a hotel for four weeks. If your dates are flexible, booking in January or February drops prices noticeably because nobody wants Berlin in the grey months.

One practical tip: ask for the company's Impressum page and check the address on Google Street View. If it's a random Wohnung in Neukölln instead of an office, treat that as a signal.

The sites people already mentioned are fine, but there's a whole layer of smaller Berlin operators that don't show up on the comparison portals and are worth knowing about. Companies like Numa, Homelike and the local outfit Apartments Berlin Mitte mostly rent to relocating professionals and corporate clients, which means their calendars are blocked out months ahead and you can actually reserve for a specific window rather than gambling on availability. Prices sit somewhere between a private sublet and a hotel, usually 1300 to 2200 for a month depending on size and district.

If you want the boring reliable route, call them directly instead of booking online. The people who answer can tell you which building is quiet, which one is next to the U-Bahn, and whether the flat has a proper kitchen or just a two-plate hob, none of which you get from a listing photo. I'd avoid anything advertised as "super central Mitte" for under 900 a month, that price stopped existing around 2019 and whatever's behind it now is either a bait listing or a room you'll be sharing with three strangers.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
