What's up with alle the expensive cars at the zoo?

I also saw a Pearson without a helmet on motorcycle, a police car having fun teasing / starting a mini sprint with one of the expensive cars in front of the zoo, many people standing next to their cars also right in front of the zoo.

So my question is just why? Do they sell something? Is this an ad? Cultural thing? Just bored/ show off? Any word on the street if there is a good explanation?

That stretch of Budapester Strasse has been a semi-organized car gathering spot for years, especially Friday and Saturday nights. It's not an official event, just a tradition where people bring out expensive or modified cars to cruise, rev engines, and sometimes race from the zoo entrance down toward the Europa-Center. The police presence is pretty routine, they usually just monitor and occasionally play along to keep things from getting dangerous. If you want to see the real spectacle, grab a currywurst from the stand near the zoo entrance around 10 PM, that's when the crowd is thickest.

Yeah that's just the regular Saturday night zoo cruise thing, it's been going on for years. Not really an ad or anything, just people with too much money and loud exhausts showing off their cars on Budapester Strasse. The cops usually just hang around to keep it from getting too out of hand.

oh yeah that's just a regular thing around the zoo, especially on weekends. it's basically a car meetup spot, people bring their fancy rides to show off and sometimes race a bit down budapester str. no official event or anything, just bored rich dudes flexing

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
