I was wondering if someone could help.

I, like many people, am searching for a flat. In my process of searching I came across an individual who was asking for money before even seeing the flat (1 month rent plus deposit). Now I know this is clearly a scam but maybe people who are new to the city or don't have a lot of rental experience may fall for this.

Does anyone know of how to report this individual? Or do you have experience of reporting similar scams?

Thank you in advance :)

Edit: I found them via Immoscout, does anyone have experience about reporting people to Immoscout?

honestly the immoscout report button works but i'd also flag it to the Berliner Mieterverein if you have time. they track these patterns and sometimes publish warnings which helps other renters spot the red flags faster. the scammer prob uses a burner phone but if they gave you a real german bank account number you can file a "Verdacht auf Betrug" at the bank's Filiale too, they have to investigate under Geldwäschegesetz. saves screenshots of everything including the url and the exact wording of the ad, immoscout might delete it fast but the police need the original listing to match patterns

You can report the profile directly through Immoscout's "Anzeigen" button on the listing page, they take this seriously. The Berlin police also have a dedicated online form for internet fraud under "Internetbetrug" on their website. If you still have the messages, save screenshots with timestamps before the profile gets deleted.

yeah you can report through immoscout but honestly theyre slow to act sometimes. the berlin verbraucherzentrale has a form specifically for rental scams too, they collect data and sometimes forward it to police. if you have their bank iban you can also report it to the bank directly, they might freeze the account. screenshots of everything including the conversation and listing URL are key

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
