Whats a good site for finding a cat sitter?

We just moved and our cat will be a few days post finishing treatment for a bladder infection, so we need someone to stay because she'd be really stressed without someone there.

The Facebook group "Berlin Pet Sitting & Care" is worth a look, it's fairly active and people often post detailed profiles with vet references. For a stay-in gig with a recovering cat, I'd also check Pawshake and filter for sitters who explicitly offer housesitting, then message a few to ask about experience with post-treatment care. If you're in a neighborhood with a decent Tierarzt, ask your vet if they know any reliable sitters or techs who do side gigs, that's how I found mine and it felt safer than a random online match.

Since your cat is coming off a bladder infection, stress is the real enemy here, so I'd skip the big platforms and go straight to your Tierarzt. Vet clinics in Berlin almost always have a list of trusted sitters, often former assistants or students who know how to handle medication and can spot early signs of a relapse. My neighbor found her sitter that way, the vet already knew the cat's history, which made the whole thing feel way less risky.

Another route that's worked for friends is the "Katzenhilfe" or local Tierschutz groups in your Bezirk. They're not just for adoptions, they often have volunteers who do paid sitting on the side, and since they deal with stressed cats daily, they're not fazed by hiding or hissing. Post in their Facebook group or give them a call, you'll get someone who actually knows feline behavior rather than a random student who just likes pets.

For the meet-and-greet, do it at your place and watch how they approach the cat. If they let the cat come to them and don't push, that's a good sign, especially since your girl will be extra sensitive right now. Also ask them to send a quick photo each day, not just a text, so you can see she's eating and using the litter box normally. That's the thing that'll catch a bladder issue early before it turns into an emergency.

If your cat is coming off treatment, I'd actually look into Cat in a Flat before anything else, it's a site built specifically for cats rather than generic pets, so sitters there tend to be more experienced with litter box monitoring and medication schedules. Filter for "house sitting" and check their reviews for people who mention giving pills or syringes, that's a good sign they won't panic if something comes up. Another option is to post on the neighborhood app nebenan.de, lots of retired folks or vet students there who live nearby and can pop over for a meet-and-greet first, which is huge when you're trusting someone with a stressed cat in a new flat. I've had better luck with sitters who charge around 25 to 30 euros a night for full stays, cheaper often means they're juggling multiple houses.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
