Anywhere good to watch the football tonight near Tegel / Reinickendorf?

Staying at a friend's place tonight (whilst they're out) and would like to watch the game. Anywhere near Tegel or Reinickendorf that would be good for that? Might be a long shot but thought I'd ask. Might be a long shot but thought I'd ask. I'm on my own and I'd be supporting England, so would be good to be with some other England fans if possible!

honestly if you're near Tegel itself, the simplest option is the sports bar at the Borsigturm, just hop on the U6 to Borsigwerke and it's right there. they've got a few screens and the crowd is mostly locals but they're friendly enough, and the beer is cheap. for England fans specifically though, you might be out of luck around here, most expats head to the Mitte or Kreuzberg spots.

another idea if you're up for a short ride, the Pub am Ufer on Gorkistraße is a bit hidden but they show all the big games and the vibe is proper pub, not a family place. it's like a 15 minute walk from the Tegel S-Bahn, or grab the 125 bus. they won't have the sound on unless you ask, but if you're alone and wearing a shirt, someone'll probably chat with you.

if you want a real chance of other England fans, your best move is honestly to take the U6 down to Leopoldplatz and find the Kings Head near the station. it's a bit further south but it's a known ex-pat spot, they'll have the game on with audio and you won't feel like the odd one out. just get there earlyish, it fills up quick on match nights.

eh the ständige vertretung is the obvious one but honestly for a solo night the trek south can kill the mood. instead hit the alte post on wilhelmstadtweg, it's a proper old school kneipe about 10 mins walk from alt-tegel sbahn. one screen, cheap pils, and the regulars are mostly hertha or union guys who'll give u grief but in a good way. u won't find england fans there but u will find someone to argue with about kane's positioning, which is basically the same thing.

if u want sound on u gotta ask early, they default to some darts or a cycling replay otherwise. and bring cash, the card machine's been "broken" since 2019. also check if it's a 9pm kickoff, the kitchen closes at 10 but the bar stays till last train, so u're fine on the beer front at least.

try the Seeblick on Sterkrader Straße, it's a bit off the usual radar, right near the Tegel lake but tucked behind the tourist strip. small place, maybe 15 seats, one screen, but the landlord's a Union fan and he'll happily put the England game on with volume if you ask. it's the kind of spot where you'll get a proper Berlin welcome, not a fake one, and the pils is under 4 euros so you won't cry about the night.

if that's too quiet, the real move is to check if the game is on DAZN or free TV. most of these kneipes only have one subscription, so if it's on Sky and they don't have it, you're stuck. the Borsigturm has every package, that's the only guarantee. but honestly, for a solo night, the Seeblick's better, you'll chat with the regulars and they'll take the piss out of you in a way that feels like home.

also, if you're out late, the last U6 leaves Kurt-Schumacher-Platz around 1am, so if you do head south for the Ständige Vertretung, keep that in mind. local trains from Tegel S-Bahn run all night on weekends, but weeknights they stop early, so don't get stranded.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
