Hello everyone.

Today is the first Sunday of the month, and hence free entry to a lot of museums in Berlin. I'm new to the city, and I'm planning to go visit atleast 2 museums today.

I was wondering if anyone would like to join me? I had German Museum of Technology and Computer Games Museum in mind. (These two I wouldn't need to know the context for, as opposed to culture/war ones). But I'm open to all suggestions, changes and options. I'm likely to do this every month, so hopefully will eventually cover most museums atleast once.

Time: Start between 12PM - 1PM.

Join if you're looking to casually explore/revisit any of these museums. Age, sex, race no bar. Bonus points if you're new to they city, but veterans are welcome too! DM me for deets!

fwiw the computer games museum is pretty small so you'll breeze through it in an hour or two, especially if you're not reading every single exhibit panel. technikmuseum is the real time sink, I'd start there first and then walk over to the games one after since they're like a 5 min walk apart on Trebbiner Straße. also if you get hungry between them there's a solid döner spot called Pamfilya right around the corner on Luckauer Straße, cheap and quick

solid museum choices, the technikmuseum is massive so you could easily spend 3-4 hours there without noticing. just a heads up, the computer games museum is tiny and honestly feels more like a big arcade room than a proper museum, so if you're expecting deep history you might be underwhelmed. if you wanna swap one out, the museum für naturkunde is also free today and has that famous dinosaur skeleton, it's a 15 min walk from the technikmuseum down Invalidenstraße. crowds will be wild everywhere though, bring patience and maybe a snack

oh nice, the technikmuseum is huge you could honestly spend all day there and the computer games museum is just down the street from it so that's a solid combo. fair warning though the technikmuseum can get super packed on free sundays so maybe go early if you can

Best tattoo artist in town?

arrow_drop_up 67 arrow_drop_down

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
