How can I reach potential customers for repair and painting services?

We have previously tried distributing flyers, but we did not get the response we wanted. Our team has people who speak German, English, and Turkish well, so the potential customer base we can serve is quite large. However, it is clear that some methods no longer work. How do people obtain services these days? Thank you in advance for your ideas.

tbh you should look into local Hausverwaltungen directly. a lot of them manage multiple buildings in your area and they're always looking for reliable handwerker they can call when a tenant needs painting or a kitchen setup. walk in with a flyer but make it a business card with a qr code to your portfolio, not a paper ad. hit up the ones in wedding and neukölln first, they deal with tons of tenants who speak turkish so your team's language skills are a huge plus there.

also, get on instagram. i know it sounds random for this but post short videos of a tile job start to finish or a kitchen before/after. use hashtags like #berlinerhandwerker or #renovierungberlin. people in berlin find workers through their feed more than you'd think, especially for smaller jobs like painting a room. keep it simple, just a phone video with good light.

flyers are pretty much dead for this kind of work, honestly. people just toss them. since you cover german, english, and turkish, i'd lean hard into local facebook groups and "nebenan.de" for each neighborhood. post before/after pics of a tile job or a kitchen setup with a simple "we speak your language" line.

also, get yourself on myhammer.de and check24's handwerker portal. a lot of berliners go there first when they need a painter or a tiler, especially for bigger jobs like a kitchen setup. make sure your profile has actual photos and a clear price range.

Google Maps business profile is probably the single most effective thing you can set up right now. When someone in Berlin searches "maler" or "fliesenleger" on their phone, the map results show up before anything else. Make sure you have real photos of your tile work and kitchens, not generic stock images, and ask every customer to leave a review with a photo. That social proof is worth more than a thousand flyers.

Also, consider approaching the small hardware stores and paint shops in your area rather than the big box stores. The ones on Sonnenallee in Neukölln or in central Wedding often have bulletin boards where locals actually look for handwerker. Leave a stack of cards there and make sure the shop owner knows you speak Turkish, they'll send people your way naturally.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
