check out trödelmarkt on maybachufer, it's a flea market on tuesdays and fridays and there's usually a few stalls with boxes of old photos and magazines. also, there's a shop called "kulturkaufhaus" near hermannplatz that sometimes has interesting stuff in their basement section, though it's more books than photos. for strictly vintage paper, i'd hit up "die zweite hand" on weserstraße, they've got a small but decent selection of old magazines from the 60s-80s

honestly, if you want more curated stuff than random flea market boxes, try "antik & kunst" on pannierstraße. it's a tiny shop run by an older guy who's been collecting for decades, he's got stacks of old east german magazines and photo albums tucked away in the back. prices are fair, like 2-5 euros per magazine, and he'll chat your ear off about the history if you let him. also, the flohmarkt at tempelhofer feld on weekends sometimes has a dedicated stall by the main entrance with really old postcards and photos, not just magazines.

if you're up for a bit of a walk, there's "humana" on karl-marx-straße - not just clothes, they have a small section in the back with old books and sometimes random photo albums mixed in. also, the flea market at boxhagener platz on sundays has a guy near the u-bahn exit who sells nothing but old magazines, he's there pretty regularly

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
