WGs who have a cleaning aid: how much are you paying them?

Hey, I'm looking to work as a weekly cleaner, preferably in WGs, I hear its quite common for people in their 30ies still living in wgs and having a cleaning aid.

my questions are: how much do you pay for 1 hour? how many hours a week do they work for you?

Your answer is super appreciated! thanks

one thing nobody mentioned yet, the anmeldung side of it. if u want to do this legally as a selbstständige, u need a Steuernummer from the Finanzamt and most WGs will ask for a Rechnung if theyre claiming it. thats a whole different setup from cash in hand. a lot of cleaners i know just do a gewerbe for it, costs like 20-40 euro at the Gewerbeamt, then u can invoice properly and write off ur fahrkarte & supplies.

rate wise, 16-18 is normal now but the real money is in Büros & Airbnb turnovers, WGs are more chill but they cancel on u constantly when someone moves out. if ur set on WGs, aim for a cluster in one Kiez so ur not BVG-ing across town for a 2 hour job

depends a lot on the neighborhood honestly. in Prenzlauer Berg and Kreuzberg you can ask 18-20, but in Neukölln or Wedding it's more like 14-16 and people will haggle. the trick is getting into a Hausgemeinschaft where one WG recommends you to the neighbors, then you're doing 4 flats on the same street and the travel time disappears.

also consider a Minijob at 556 a month, that's the 2025 threshold. at 17 an hour that's roughly 8 hours a week tax free for you and cheap for them because of the pauschale Abgaben. way better than pure cash under the table if you want to build any kind of record.

something nobody's touched yet is the timing side. most WGs want the cleaning on a weekday morning while everyone's at work, which sounds great until u realize the flatmates are never there to let u in, so u end up needing a key. that's a trust thing and it takes a while to build, so ur first few jobs will probably be ones where someone's home, which limits u to evenings & weekends.

on the money: 16 is a solid starting ask for a WG, dont go lower just to get the first gig. what actually pays is stacking 4 or 5 flats within walking distance in the same Kiez, then ur doing 2 hours each and the day fills itself. wgs in Schillerkiez & around Weserstrasse book fast cus everyone works late & nobody wants to clean

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
