Best shops to buy German-made watches in Berlin?

I already own a Sinn 556i & Nomos Tangente, so I'm open to another piece from either of those brands or exploring others.

I've done some searching on Google, but I haven't been able to find anywhere that seems to carry many German brands in one place or a neighborhood that has several boutiques for individual brands.

Anyone have recommendations or guidance? I didn't think this would be that hard to find! We're staying near Friedrichshain, if that helps.

ngl you might have better luck hunting down specific boutiques than a multi-brand spot for german watches. the Nomos boutique at Hackescher Markt is worth a stop even if you already own one, they sometimes have limited editions or straps you can't get elsewhere. it's a short walk from your hotel in Friedrichshain, just hop on the M10 tram to the S-Bahn.

for something different, check out the Sinn boutique on Kurfürstendamm. it's a bit of a trek from your side but the U15 tram drops you right there. they usually have a few used models in the window that don't show up on their site, and the staff are pretty chill about letting you handle the U50 series which wears way different than the 556.

one spot nobody mentioned is Galeria Kaufhof at Alexanderplatz. sounds random but they have a proper watch department that stocks Junghans and some Laco models for under retail. not the same experience as a real boutique but you can try stuff on without any sales pressure, and they do the tax-free forms at the info desk upstairs

If you're already into Nomos and Sinn, try popping into Uhren & Schmuck Jens Walter near Savignyplatz. They're a small family shop that stocks both brands plus some Glashütte Original pieces you won't find at the big stores. The owner is usually around and happy to let you try stuff on without any pressure.

honestly, skip the tourist spots and head to Uhren & Schmuck in Charlottenburg, it's a couple blocks from the Ku'damm. they carry Mühle-Glashütte and have a solid selection of used Sinns that might catch your eye, prices are more negotiable than the big shops.

fwiw, Friedrichshain to Tempelhofer Ufer is a straight shot on the U1, takes like 15 mins. Rainer's is worth the trip just to see the Damasko DC67 in person, pics don't do the ceramic bezel justice.

if you're feeling adventurous, walk from there to Mehringdamm and check out the flea market on weekends, I've seen old Junghans and Dugena pieces for under 200 euros. just bring cash and know what you're looking at.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
