This might be a bit of a long shot, but here goes nothing...

I make trail running films and my last one of a certain style was particularly well received. (In short, I ran around the Ringbahn, documented the run, and in four parts, cut to a local tour guide who told the history of the Ringbahn and how it mirrors Berlin/German history.)

I'd like to make more adventure films where I cover a route (marked or unmarked) as a means of a telling an interesting story. So, I'm wondering if anyone in this Reddit is also into that sort of thing, but especially from the filming/editing side.

Thanks in advance!

there's a small community of urban running filmmakers here, check out _lauf in berlin_ on instagram. they're more about the social run side but some of them do video content, especially around the mauerweg sections.

the ringbahn idea is smart, people love that contrast of infrastructure and nature. if you want a different angle try the teufelsberg route, it's got that cold war layer baked into the landscape. the climb up the hill is brutal but the 360 view at the top is worth it for a drone shot.

for editing help, there's a monthly meetup at betahaus in kreuzberg, usually last thursday. filmmakers and runners both show up, it's a mixed crowd. just show up with a laptop and someone will probably geek out over your footage.

honestly the ringbahn project sounds rad, i've seen a few people do bits around the s-bahn loop but never a full documentary cut like that. if you want another route with built-in storytelling, try the berliner stadtwanderweg 2 from alexanderplatz to schloss charlottenburg. it follows old city fortifications and later cold war border zones, so you get that same layered history vibe without needing a guide

for gear and editing chat, check out the filmclub at schokoladen in mitte on wednesdays. it's less formal than betahaus and more about actual projects in progress. bring a hard drive, people there love seeing raw footage from unusual angles

also worth hitting up wild at heart in neukölln on a tuesday evening. it's a bar but the back room turns into a casual edit session for locals working on outdoor content. the owner is a former trail runner himself so he gets the whole run-and-film thing

Have you looked into the Berliner Mauerweg as a follow-up? It's about 160km around the whole city and each section has a distinct character, from the busy Bernauer Strasse memorial to quiet forest paths in the north. The story practically writes itself with how the wall's path still shapes neighborhoods today.

For the filming side, there's a weekly open edit session at the Bewegungsmelder studio in Wedding on Monday evenings. It's more of a co-working vibe than a formal meetup, but the folks there are used to people cutting outdoor content and can give practical advice on stabilization and pacing for run footage.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
