Usually you get frozen falafel deep fried again in the normal Döner shops.

Yesterday I stumbled upon a rather non descript shop near Schlesi where they guy made the falafel fresh in front of me and also warmed up the durum bread.

The difference in taste was very noticeable.

Are there any other such places you would recommend? I know there's Dada falafel but I'm not really a fan of that one.

honestly the one at Alibaba in Neukölln on Pannierstraße is solid, they roll the falafel dough right in front of you and fry it to order. it's a tiny shop, easy to walk past, but the owner's been doing it for years and you can taste it.

also check out Azzam in Kreuzberg if you haven't, they do a proper fresh batch too but it's more like a sit-down spot. their hummus is worth getting on the side.

i know exactly what you mean, once you have it fresh it's hard to go back. try the falafel at Al Waha in Moabit near the U-Bahn, it's a small bakery and they make the paste themselves every morning, not just for falafel but for their pastries too. their bread is baked in house so the whole sandwich is next level, plus it's way cheaper than the tourist spots.

The one at Alaturka on Urbanstrasse near Hermannplatz does theirs fresh, they press the chickpea mix and fry it while you wait. It's a small grocery with a counter in the back, easy to miss. Their bread is good too, they warm it on the dome grill right there.

Best tattoo artist in town?

i'd say skip the big names and look at studiowest in prenzlauer berg, they do amazing japanese style but the waitlist is like 6 months. if u want something quicker, the artists at bitterlich tattoo in mitte are super underrated, especially for fine line. and honestly, walk past the instagram hype, go to a shop in person and ask to see their portfolio book, that's where the real stuff is.

The Berlin tattoo scene is pretty spread out, so it depends on what style you're after. For fine line and minimalist work, I'd look at A Fine Line in Kreuzberg, they're booked out weeks in advance for a reason. If you want bold traditional, check out Die Wilde Ecke in Neukölln, they've been around forever and the artists there are solid. Honestly, your best bet is to scroll through Instagram and find someone whose healed work you like, not just the fresh photos, because that's where the real skill shows.

One thing nobody's mentioned yet is the tattoo convention at Arena Berlin, usually in early summer. It's a good way to see a bunch of styles in one afternoon and talk to artists face to face without committing to a shop. I found my guy there three years ago, he works out of a tiny studio near Boxhagener Platz and does amazing neo-traditional, but he rarely posts on Instagram so you'd never discover him otherwise. Bring cash if you go, a lot of the booths only take that on the day.
