Anybody knows Lex Autovermietung?

Does anybody know if the contact form on their website is really legally binding? I confused times and prices and ended up booking a van for way too many hours. fwiw i think the whole form vs email thing is a red herring, what matters is what their AGBs say on the actual booking page. if you scroll down on the van listing there's usually a small text block about stornierung, and i remember it being 48h free cancel, not 24. might be worth checking that before you email them so you know exactly what to cite.

also, don't sleep on the fact that they're in kreuzberg near the spree, so if you're picking up from the yard, they've got a lot of turnover from people moving flats. that means they've prob seen this exact mistake a hundred times, a guy booking a sprinter for 12 hours when he meant 6. they'd rather resell that slot than argue with you, so as long as you're polite and fast, you're good.

one thing nobody said: check what time their office actually opens. i've called them at 9am and gotten voicemail, but at 10 they pick up right away. if you're anxious, call at like 10:15, that's when the morning crew is settled.

honestly not sure about the legal side of their contact form, but i'd just call them directly. lex is a pretty small operation over in kreuzberg, the guys at the counter are usually chill if u explain the mixup. they might just adjust the booking without any hassle, especially if u haven't picked the van up yet.

if they push back, check ur confirmation email for a cancellation policy. most rental places in berlin have a 24h free cancel window, even if it's not super obvious on the site. worst case, u can dispute it with your bank, but that's a pain and might burn the bridge if u wanna use them again.

fwiw, i've used lex once for a move and the price was fine, but their online system is kinda clunky. next time just book over the phone, way easier to catch mistakes like that.

The confirmation email is the thing that matters here, not the contact form. If they sent you a price in writing and you didn't sign anything at pickup, German law gives you a 14-day withdrawal window for distance contracts, so you're not stuck with it. Just send them a short email saying you want to cancel or adjust within that period, cite the law if you want, and they'll back off.

I've rented from Lex a couple times for moving stuff around, their rates are decent but the booking flow is genuinely outdated. One thing nobody mentioned: check if the van is actually available for the hours you originally wanted, if it's free they'll almost certainly just rewrite the reservation rather than lose the booking. And skip the phone, you want the paper trail, but do it today, not tomorrow.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
