I'm an American (25M) & I'm coming to Berlin the first week in October. What are some local secrets/hidden gems to see? I also was looking to try and get into Berghain. Is it worth trying to get into? Or are other clubs better/more fun!

Thank you in advance for the recommendations and advice! Thank you in advance for the recommendations and advice!

ngl the berghain thing is overrated for a first trip. if you really wanna try, go early sunday morning when it's quieter, but honestly kitkat is more fun for a tourist who wants to see something wild. the crowd is friendlier and you can actually get in without a vibe check from hell

for a hidden gem, walk over to the spreepark area near treptower park. there's a little ferry called fahrgastschiff that takes you across the spree for like 2 euro, drops you by that abandoned theme park. great spot for photos and way less crowded than the east side gallery

also check out the burgeramt in kreuzberg for lunch on a weekday. it's this tiny spot run by this old turkish guy, best döner i've had in the city and it's like 5 euro. the queue moves fast

tresor is cool but if u want something a bit different try ://about blank, vibe is way more relaxed and the garden is nice when it's not freezing. for daytime stuff, go to tempelhofer feld and just wander, it's massive and weirdly peaceful for being in the middle of the city

honestly skip berghain unless you want to wait in line for two hours to maybe get rejected. tresor is way more chill and the crowd is better vibes. check out markthalle neun for food on a thursday, it's an actual hidden gem

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
