Does anyone know if Spreepark still can be visited or not? I've heard they are rebuilding it?

If they are still open, can I go there in the middle of the night? is that even a good idea? If they are still open, can I go there in the middle of the night? is that even a good idea?

Spreepark is officially closed for the rebuild, so you can't just walk in during the day. The park has been fenced off and under construction since 2016, with the big Ferris wheel being restored, but there's no public access until they finish, likely around 2026.

Going at night is a terrible idea. The area is heavily monitored by security and the Polizei patrol the surrounding Plänterwald regularly, people have gotten fined for trespassing. If you want a look, take the S-Bahn to Treptower Park and walk along the Spree, you can see the old rides from the outside, especially the rocket tower, without risking a ticket. Or check out the occasional guided tours they run during the summer, those are the only legal way inside.

The guided tours are the move if you're set on getting inside, they run a few times a month and sell out fast, so check the website early. I did one last summer and it's not a thrill ride situation, more like a walking history thing, but you get to see the overgrown paths and the old dinosaur park up close, which is weirdly beautiful.

If you're just curious about the silhouette at night, the S-Bahn bridge between Treptower Park and Plänterwald gives you a solid view of the ferris wheel against the sky, no trespassing needed. Honestly, the park's been a ghost for so long that the rebuild news has been dragging for years, I wouldn't hold my breath for 2026 either, Berlin construction timelines are what they are.

yeah what they said, but honestly the night thing is worse than just a fine. the plänterwald is sketchy af after dark, like proper dark, no lights and the paths get muddy. people have gotten lost in there drunk, not even trying to sneak into the park. plus the construction site has motion sensors and dogs, i know a guy who got chased out by security thinking he was a scraper. not worth it.

if u want the vibe without the risk, grab a beer at the biergarten at treptower park around sunset, you can see the ferris wheel lit up from across the river. or do one of the summer tours, they're like 15 euro and they let u walk right past the dinosaur statues, way cooler than peeking through a fence at 3am.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
