Flea market on Friday?

Hey guys. Is there any flea market that is open on Fridays? Or can you recommend some stores that are similar which may be open on Fridays? Hey guys. Is there any flea market that is open on Fridays? Or can you recommend some stores that are similar which may be open on Fridays?

There's a small flea market at the Arkonaplatz in Mitte on Fridays, though it's more of a morning thing and usually wraps up by early afternoon. It's mostly locals clearing out their apartments, so you'll find a lot of random household items and old books mixed with some decent vintage clothes if you dig around.

For stores, try the Pick & Weight on Torstraße as mentioned, but also check out Made in Berlin on Oranienstraße. They have a curated selection of vintage clothing and accessories from different decades, and they're open Fridays until 7pm. The prices are a bit higher than flea markets but the stuff is already washed and sorted by size.

The flea market situation on Fridays is pretty sparse, but there's a decent one at the Rathaus Schöneberg parking lot that runs Fridays from early morning until around 4pm. It's mostly private sellers clearing out their basements, so you'll find random household stuff, old books, and sometimes surprisingly good vintage clothing mixed in with the junk. Not as curated as the weekend ones but the prices are usually negotiable because locals just want to get rid of things.

If that's too far south for you, the VEB Orange store on Oranienstraße in Kreuzberg has a similar chaotic rummaging feel and they're open Fridays until 8pm. They buy stuff from estate sales so the inventory changes constantly, and I've found some decent mid-century furniture there for less than you'd pay at the trendy vintage spots.

friday is rough for flea markets, but if you're after that secondhand fix try the stadtmission fairkauf stores. the one at mainzer str in friedrichshain is open friday and they get some wild stuff in, like old typewriters and weird east german kitchenware mixed with clothes. prices are fixed and low, no haggling but also no tourist markup.

there's also the neukölln flohmarkt on maybachufer which runs tuesdays and fridays, but it's more of a clothes and household stuff market, not the typical flea. still good for a rummage if you're near hermannplatz anyway.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
