Why is there no Vietnamese people on Karneval des Kultures?

My hunch is that its because they can't dance well and don't have good music. Only Pho :(

honestly your hunch is way off. the vietnamese community doesn't do the carnival because they have their own big celebration at dong xuan center for tet, which is way more their scene than a street parade. also a lot of the younger generation is busy working saturday shifts at the restaurants or studying, not practicing samba. if you want good vietnamese food during the festival though, hit up anh thu in wedding instead of the overpriced food stalls

The Karneval der Kulturen is organized around national committees that apply for spots years in advance, and the Vietnamese community here doesn't really have that kind of institutional structure for a parade float. Most of the younger generation is either working in family businesses or studying, not spending weekends building a carnival wagon. If you want to see Vietnamese culture in Berlin, head to the Dong Xuan Center on a Sunday morning when it's proper busy, not during a street festival.

Yeah, it's not about talent or anything like that. The Vietnamese community here mostly does their own thing for Tet and other holidays, plus a lot of them live out in Marzahn or Lichtenberg, not really in Kreuzberg where the parade happens.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
