( Ich bin übrigens Deutsche also könnt ihr mir gerne auch auf Deutsch schreiben)

I study literature and I have to turn in a profile about somebody. Literally anybody slightly interesting. Normally I wouldn't go out of my way like this for just a homework but the teacher hates me and I already missed like 3 lessons aso I'm planning on really leaving an impact with this one. I can't pay anyone since I literally have zero money but if someone would like to meet up with a stranger and talk about their life or an interesting job they have please write me a message or maybe you can point me in someone's direction !

Thanks

there's a woman who runs the kleine kaffeerösterei on graefestraße in kreuzberg, she used to be a sound engineer for underground techno parties in the 90s before the berghain even existed. she's got wild stories about the old tempelhof airport raves and how she ended up roasting beans instead. just go in on a tuesday morning when it's quiet, buy a coffee you can barely afford, and ask her about the "good old chaos". she'll probably talk for an hour straight.

or hit up the guy who sells used vinyl at the mauerpark flea market on sundays, the one with the giant dreadlocks. he's not just a vendor, he used to tour with a punk band and has a scar story that involves a police horse. both are way more interesting than any profile your teacher's seen, and they're both used to random people asking questions so no awkwardness.

If you want someone with a proper story, go find one of the old U-Bahn drivers who started in East Berlin before the Mauer fell. A few of them still hang around the Betriebshof in Friedrichshain, especially near the Warschauer Straße entrance, and they'll talk your ear off about driving through the ghost stations in the 80s. Otherwise, there's a guy who runs the secondhand book stall at Boxhagener Platz on Sundays, he's got a face like a worn novel and knows every scandal from the local literary scene. Both are free, both will give you more material than you can use, and neither will care that you're doing homework.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
