I was told I could get the fine reduced to 7eue. Just scan the QR code and send the stuff away online. I did so on Monday 7th (first day I could do it). Got an email telling me to wait and not contact again. It coming to 2 weeks now. I don't want to be paying 120€ because I'm waiting for their reply but I don't wanna pay 60€ when I was clearly told I could pay 7€.

I don't mind paying the reduced fee, I deserve it and it's a great policy. But what can I do when they are not answering and letting me pay 7eue??

The BVG system for the 7 euro reduced fee is a bit of a black hole, they explicitly tell you not to contact them while it processes. What you're waiting on is the official "Anhörung" response, which can take three to four weeks, even when you submit online. If it hits four weeks with no word, that's when you should call their customer service directly instead of emailing, they can see the status on their screen and often push it through.

In the meantime, don't pay the 60 euro invoice if you receive it. That's the key thing, they send that out automatically before the reduced fee is confirmed, and paying it cancels out your 7 euro option. As long as you have the confirmation email from your online submission, you're covered, and if it goes to 120, you can contest it with that proof. I've seen people get the reduced fee applied months later, the system just takes forever.

honestly just pay the 7 euros if you can, even without their confirmation. i know it sounds backwards but the reduced fee is a fixed thing, the QR code submission is basically your ticket. worst case you're out 7 and they refund it later, but if you wait and the 60 invoice hits, paying that kills the 7 option. i'd rather lose 7 than fight 120. also check the original email from monday, sometimes there's a direct payment link hidden in the fine print, not just the QR.

yeah the 7 euro thing is the "reduced administrative fee" and it's totally normal for it to take ages. i had a friend wait 5 weeks once, the confirmation email you got is your receipt basically. if the 60 euro letter shows up, just ignore it, don't pay, and if they push to 120 you can fight it with that email. honestly the online portal is backed up, but calling the BVG hotline after the 4 week mark usually works, they can see your submission on their end and sometimes mark it urgent. one thing nobody mentions: check your spam folder for any follow-up from them, they sometimes send a link to pay the 7 euro that expires, and if you miss it you're back to square one.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
