Hey everyone!

What is the coolest secret spot you found in Berlin? I am taking some friends with me and want to make it unique.

you know the little bridge over the Landwehrkanal near the Admiralbrücke? everyone goes there for the bridge parties in summer but if you walk just a bit east, there's a hidden metal spiral staircase that takes you down to a tiny floating dock. it's basically abandoned, you can sit there with your feet dangling over the water and watch the boats go by. perfect for a quiet beer before the chaos kicks in.

There's a tiny courtyard behind a residential building in Mitte called Haus Schwarzenberg. It's tucked away near the Hackescher Markt S-Bahn station and covered in street art that changes every few months. You can grab a coffee from the little cafe there and just sit in the chaos of it all, feels miles away from the tourist crowds. Just walk through the main archway, you'll know you're in the right spot when you see the old cinema doors.

oh man, check out the Mauerpark flea market on a sunday but skip the main chaos and go to the back corner near the old wall strip. there's a guy who sets up a tiny record player and sells vintage postcards for like 1 euro each, total hidden gem. most people just get stuck at the food stalls, but that back area is where the real weird stuff is

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
