Facebook groups are still weirdly active for this. "Tandem Berlin" and "Sprachtandem Berlin" have people posting weekly, and since you're C1 you can just write your post in German which filters out the low-effort replies. I've seen Sprachcafés at the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek too, Saturday afternoons I think, near Hallesches Tor. One thing nobody mentions: your Spanish is your leverage. English tandem partners are everywhere but Spanish is harder to find, so lead with that and you'll have people messaging you instead.

honestly the app is fine but yeah the city filter is behind a paywall. try the old school route instead: hang a note at your local Volkshochschule or check the bulletin boards at Café Kuchenzeit type places, lots of people there are also hunting for a partner. for C1 level you'll get more out of a Stammtisch or a Spanish meetup where people switch languages, since you already speak english and spanish you can offer both which makes you a hot commodity.

try the zettelkasten at your local bücherhalle, most bezirke have a physical pinboard near the entrance and pankow & friedrichshain branches get a lot of traffic. another one people forget is kleinanzeigen, search "sprachtandem" under community, it's low key the biggest board in the city and you can filter by bezirk for free. at C1 you don't really need a beginner-friendly setup anyway, so lead with spanish since that's what everyone's hunting for & you'll get replies fast

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
