Do you know any places around Neukölln or further this area to work with my laptop? And extra, that doesn't close at 5-6pm. At this point I think its better to work from home but sometimes its nice to have a little air change :)

fwiw there's a spot called Cafe Rix in Rixdorf, on Karl-Marx-Platz, that's open till 10pm on weekends. it's a bit more lowkey than the Weserstrae spots, lot of students and freelancers there typing away. the back room has these big windows and outlets along the wall, good for spreading out thesis stuff. just don't expect fancy coffee, it's more of a working cafe than a hipster joint.

also if you're near Hermannplatz, the Stadtbibliothek Neukölln on Karl-Marx-Straße is open saturdays till 8pm and sundays till 6pm. it's not as quiet as the big library but there's a reading room with desks and it's free. plus the area around has a few cafes if you want to switch it up later

yeah working from home all weekend gets old fast. check out Cafe Botta on Weserstraße, they're open till 10pm on weekends and nobody bothers you if you camp out for a few hours. the coffee is decent and they have those long wooden tables that are good for spreading out drawings

if that's too loud for you, try the library at the Amerika Gedenkbibliothek near Hallesches Tor - it's open until 8pm on saturdays and 6pm on sundays but the reading room is pretty quiet and has plenty of outlets. the area around it is nice for a walk when you need a break too

honestly just go to Silo Coffee on Lausitzer Platz, they're open till 8pm on weekends and the vibe is super chill for working. just bring headphones cause it can get busy

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
