Especially the food court area, so many high quality yet affordable things to eat there. Does anyone know if it is possible to petition for that area to stay?

honestly the petition angle is dead on arrival, the neue mitte redevelopment has been public for ages and the investor already has the blueprints. but if u want to keep that food court spirit alive, the bauhaus archive cafeteria is a weird sleeper pick, cheap viennese sausages and this killer apple strudel, plus it's a nice stroll down the landwehrkanal after. or hit the lehrter straße farmers market on saturdays, there's a turkish gözleme stand that puts the galeries ones to shame, and u can stock up on olives and bread for like half the price. go do a final cheese run before the doors shut, that comté at the affineur counter was always my move.

tbh the food court was the only thing that made that building worth the schlepp across town, the rest was just overpriced designer stuff. if u want a similar last hurrah, the markthalle neun street food thursdays are the closest vibe but way more packed, so go early. or check out the kleine markthalle in charlottenburg, it's smaller but the rotisserie chicken spot there is criminally underrated. honestly i'd just hit the champagne bar on the top floor one more time, that view over the gedächtniskirche is the real reason to go.

The food court really was the best kept secret in Mitte, I used to go just for the oyster bar on Fridays, that was a proper treat for the price. Since the petition route seems closed, your best bet for that same energy is the weekly street food night at Markthalle Neun, but if you want something calmer, the Kantine at the Deutsche Oper does a solid lunch buffet for under 10 euros, very canteen style but the schnitzel is legit. Also worth a final stop at the patisserie counter on the ground floor, those lemon tarts freeze surprisingly well, I stocked up last week.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
