r/Berlin: Hi, how much time did the US visa (B1) consular interview process take in Berlin? My appointment is at 8 am and have a domestic flight to catch at 12 pm. Any info will be helpful.

yeah that's tight but doable if everything lines up. the embassy itself is on clayallee, u can take the u3 to krumme lanke and walk 10 min, or bus 115 drops u closer. i'd say plan for being out by 9-9:30 at the latest, then it's about 40 min to berlin brandenburg with no delays. if ur flight is from txflughafen, same trip but add 10 min. rescheduling is safer though, the u-bahn is not always reliable at that hour

honestly i'd say 12pm is risky but not impossible. the appointment itself is usually done by 9am if you're on time, but the security line can be a wildcard. fwiw i had a friend who was out by 8:45 once and another who waited an hour outside in the cold. if u take the s-bahn from sundgauer strasse to berlin brandenburg it's about 35 mins, but the bus 115 to krumme lanke then u3 is more reliable imo. maybe cancel the flight or push it to 2pm if u can, the stress isn't worth it

ngl 12pm is cutting it real close. even if ur in & out by 9:30, u still gotta factor in the u-bahn to txflughafen or berlin main hbf depending on ur flight. the actual interview part is quick but the waiting outside can be 30-45 min. if u can reschedule the flight for later, do it. otherwise skip the bratwurst and head straight to the station after

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
