Can anyone give me a low down on comedy clubs in Berlin?

honestly the scene is pretty scattered but the mad monkey in mitte does a thursday english show that's been running for years, it's in a basement bar near friedrichstraße and the crowd skews younger. for something more alternative, the tipi camp in tiergarten has a weird little comedy tent in summer that's mostly german but sometimes they do bilingual nights, the setting is unique since it's right by the kanzleramt. also if ur up for a trek, the white trash fast food in friedrichshain does a monthly english open mic that's chaotic but entertaining, just be prepared for the food to be mediocre

u should check out the biergarten at kulturbrauerei in prenzlauer berg, they do a weekly comedy night in summer that's pretty solid. it's a big courtyard with long tables and the vibe is way more relaxed than the cramped clubs. also, the pub at schleusenkrug in tiergarten has random english open mics on tuesdays that are hit or miss but the beer garden is worth it alone

the comedy cafe in kreuzberg is probably the most consistent spot, shows are usually in english on wednesdays if that's ur thing. but if u want something rowdier, the quatsch comedy club near hackescher markt has a mix of german and english nights, just check the schedule. for a real dive bar vibe, there's a small room at the kantine am berghain that does standup on sundays, cheap drinks and the crowd can be rough

Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
