Strange event that has happened with BVG?
On 09.04 I was going to uni… This event has happened in German. I do understand German at academic level, however I am unsure whether I understood everything correctly, so I am asking here in English.
On 09.04 I was going to uni and a BVG worker started doing ticket checks in the train. I took my student card out as I always did, the man looked at it, said something along the lines of "not being enough" (I wasn't paying attention). Then he requested my identification card and took me out of the train. There, he explained to me (as far as I understand) that physical student cards are not sufficient anymore and that I should provide an electronic proof? I was asked to bring them a proof within 7 days and was given a Zahlungsaufforderung.
Anyway, I did that today (16.04), brought my ID, student card and electronic proof to the BVG building. The worker that took care of my case asked me whether I was carrying my identity card then. I said yes (as the Zahlungsaufforderung paper said, I did provide my Aufenthalt), he left with my student card for a minute, came back, scanned my electronic proof on my phone and said I don't have to do anything. He also mentioned that I should NOT give my identification in such cases. I was not sure if I understood him correctly, so I repeated what he said and asked why. He confirmed what he said (I think), but I couldn't catch what he exactly said. He said something something call police, make stress? Anyway, he said I can leave and everything was settled, so I just left.
But I had read on the Zahlungsaufforderung paper that I would be paying a 7 euro fine. However, I wasn't requested to pay anything there. And why did the man ask me NOT to give my identity next time? Did I perhaps misunderstand? Can someone explain please? Thanks
