Where to play tennis in Berlin? 🎾

Where are some places to play tennis, ideally for free, in and around Berlin? πŸ‘Ÿ Where are some places to play tennis, ideally for free, in and around Berlin? πŸ‘Ÿ

If you're willing to travel a bit, the courts at Sportpark SchΓΆneberg are a solid option. They're not free, but the hourly rate is reasonable, around 12-15 euros depending on the time of day, and you can book online which saves the hassle of showing up and hoping. For free play, your best bet is really the public nets in parks like Tempelhofer Feld, but bring your own net if you can, since the permanent ones get taken down pretty frequently.

free courts are tough in berlin, ngl. the ones in volkspark friedrichshain are usually packed but if you go early like 7am on a weekday you might get a hit in. otherwise check out the tennis club in grunewald, it's pay per hour but the courts are well kept and they have a nice little cafe.

I'd try the courts at Sportanlage Wendl-Dietrich-Straße in Charlottenburg. They're run by the Bezirksamt and you can book online for around 6 euros an hour, which is fair for well-maintained hard courts. For a more social scene, the Tennisclub Rot-Weiß at Clayallee has some public hours and a solid community feel, though you'll want to call ahead to check availability.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
